## Overview
Modere traced its roots to Neways International, a Utah network-marketing company founded in 1987 (incorporated under the Neways name in 1992). Private equity firm Golden Gate Capital acquired Neways in 2006; ownership later passed to other private-equity investors (secondary sources point to Z Capital Partners gaining control around 2013) before the company relaunched as Modere around 2014. Operating a direct-selling model with independent "Social Marketers," Modere sold nutritional supplements, weight-management products (Trim, Burn, Sculpt, Curb), collagen supplements (Liquid BioCell), and household and personal-care items, at various points reaching customers across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and India. On April 11, 2025, Modere abruptly announced it was closing after 23 years of operating under the Modere/Neways lineage; industry press linked the closure to internal turmoil including litigation with a former top distributor, though the company did not publicly detail a definitive cause. The following month, Shaklee Corporation announced it had acquired substantially all of Modere's business through a subsidiary, including trademarks, patents, product formulas, an exclusive license to sell Liquid BioCell Collagen, North American manufacturing and testing equipment, and related inventory; Shaklee resumed sales of the former Modere product lines in late May 2025 and invited former Modere distributors to join its own organization. As a result, Modere no longer operates as an independent company, and its former corporate domain now redirects to a Shaklee product page.
