Carryover
Carryover is volume left over after a period's bonus is paid that a plan allows a distributor to keep and apply toward a future period's bonus, instead of losing it. Carryover is most common in binary plans, where the leg with more volume after a pair bonus is paid often carries its extra volume forward.
Also called: rollover, carry forward volume
Why it matters
Carryover rules directly affect how much of a distributor's volume actually counts toward future income. A generous carryover policy lets a distributor build up volume in a strong leg over several periods, while a strict policy can flush unused volume and reduce future earnings.
Example
After a pair bonus is paid on 400 points from each leg, a distributor's leg that had 900 points carries the remaining 500 points forward into the next commission period.
