Group Volume (GV)
Group volume, usually shortened to GV, is the combined personal volume of a distributor and everyone in their downline for a given period, sometimes capped at a set number of levels. Companies use group volume to determine rank advancement and to calculate team based bonuses such as matching bonuses or generation overrides.
Also called: GV, group point value, team volume, organizational volume
Why it matters
Group volume is the main number that separates a distributor's personal earnings from their team earnings. Rank requirements are almost always written against a group volume target, so group volume is the figure a distributor tracks to know how close they are to the next rank.
Example
A distributor's own personal volume is 200 points, and their downline of eight people contributes another 4800 points, for a total group volume of 5000 points that period.
