Family First Life
Family First Life is a U.S. insurance marketing organization, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Uncasville, Connecticut, that contracts independent agents to sell mortgage protection, final expense, life insurance, and annuity products underwritten by partner carriers.
Overview
Family First Life (FFL) is an independent marketing organization (IMO) in the U.S. life insurance industry. It was founded in late 2013 by Shawn Meaike, who serves as its President and Founder, and the company is headquartered at 80 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Suite 1B, in Uncasville, Connecticut. Rather than underwriting policies itself, FFL recruits and licenses independent insurance agents who sell mortgage protection insurance, final expense insurance, indexed universal life (IUL) policies, and fixed indexed annuities on behalf of numerous partner carriers. FFL's network is organized into many regionally or agent-branded divisions (e.g., Family First Life USA, Family First Life National, Family First Life Financial), each operating under the shared Family First Life brand while recruiting and training agents somewhat independently. Agents work as independent contractors rather than employees, a common structure among insurance marketing organizations and one that overlaps with direct-selling/network-marketing recruitment patterns. Integrity Marketing Group, LLC, a large insurance distribution holding company based in Dallas, Texas, announced it had completed its acquisition of Family First Life in October 2019 (per Integrity's own press release), and Family First Life now operates as one of Integrity's partner brands; as part of the deal, Meaike became a part-owner of Integrity. The company states its agent network spans nearly all 50 U.S. states and has grown substantially since its founding, though FFL does not appear to operate outside the United States.
