Melaleuca
Melaleuca, doing business as Melaleuca: The Wellness Company, is a privately held direct-selling manufacturer of nutritional, personal-care, and home-hygiene products headquartered in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Overview
Founded in 1985 by Frank VanderSloot, Melaleuca develops and manufactures nutritional supplements, weight-management products, personal care and cosmetics, and home hygiene and cleaning products, which it sells directly to consumers rather than through retail stores. Customers and independent "Marketing Executives" order through an online/catalog system, and the company pays commissions to those Marketing Executives under a unilevel-style compensation plan based on qualifying product sales rather than recruitment. The company has grown from its original eight products and eight employees into a multinational consumer packaged goods business reporting more than 2 billion US dollars in annual revenue, with operations extending to roughly 20 countries and territories across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Melaleuca remains privately held; VanderSloot, who led the company as CEO for 37 years, now serves as Executive Chairman, with Jerry Felton having taken over as CEO in 2022.
