Overview

Grupo Omnilife was founded in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1991 by Jorge Vergara and Maricruz Zataraín, starting as a small operation before growing into a multinational conglomerate the company describes as encompassing more than 50 affiliated businesses. Its core business remains the manufacture and direct sale of nutritional and dietary supplements, marketed alongside a personal-care and cosmetics line. The company operates on a multilevel marketing model, which it refers to internally as "Multidesarrollo": independent distributors purchase and resell Omnilife products and can also build and earn from a downline of distributors they recruit. Omnilife states it reaches markets in more than 20 countries, with the largest presence in Mexico, other parts of Latin America, the United States, and Spain. Following founder Jorge Vergara's death in 2019, leadership passed to his son, Amaury Vergara, who serves as the company's Chairman and CEO. Omnilife remains a privately held, family-controlled company; it is not publicly traded and has no stock ticker.
