The Real Brokerage

Overview

Real was founded in 2014 by CEO Tamir Poleg and a group of investors (the company is incorporated in Ontario, Canada, consistent with its Toronto origins) and has since grown into a large North American residential real estate brokerage, now trading publicly on Nasdaq under the ticker REAX. Rather than operating a network of traditional physical branch offices, the company runs primarily as a cloud-based brokerage, giving independent real estate agents access to a shared technology platform, transaction and back-office tools, and ancillary services such as mortgage, title, and closing support. Agents who join Real earn standard commissions on the home sales and purchases they close, and the company also offers a separate, publicly disclosed revenue-share program: agents who sponsor other agents into the brokerage can receive a portion of company revenue generated by those recruits (and, through multiple tiers, by agents those recruits in turn bring in), funded out of Real's commission revenue rather than from any product or membership fee. This structure sits alongside the core brokerage business rather than replacing it, the primary product is licensed real estate brokerage services to home buyers and sellers. As of its most recent public disclosures, Real reports tens of thousands of affiliated agents operating across all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C., and five Canadian provinces, with rapid year-over-year growth in agent count and transaction volume reported in its quarterly SEC/SEDAR filings.
