World Financial Group
World Financial Group (WFG) is a North American multi-level-marketing distributor of life insurance, retirement, and investment products, operating as a Transamerica company under parent Aegon N.V.
Overview
World Financial Group distributes financial products, primarily life insurance along with retirement and wealth-building services, through a network of independent, commissioned agents in the United States and Canada. Agents are compensated both for personal sales and through override commissions on production from agents they recruit and sponsor, an MLM-style structure. The organization traces to a company founded in 1991 by Hubert Humphrey III, later known as World Marketing Alliance, which was acquired by Dutch insurer Aegon N.V. in 2001 and rebranded as World Financial Group. It has since operated under the Transamerica brand in the U.S., with a separate Canadian home office in Toronto. WFG describes itself as connecting clients with insurance and investment providers that meet a minimum credit-rating threshold. Today WFG maintains a corporate home office in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (with additional operations in Johns Creek, Georgia) and a Canadian office in Toronto, Ontario. The company reports a large distributed agent force across thousands of independent offices in the U.S. and Canada, making it one of the larger MLM-style distribution networks in the financial-services/insurance category.
