Downline

A downline is the group of distributors positioned below a given distributor in the company's organizational structure, including people they personally recruited and, depending on the plan, people placed under them through spillover or other placement rules. A distributor's downline can span multiple levels or generations, depending on the compensation plan's payout depth.

Also called: organization, team

Why it matters

The size and activity level of a distributor's downline usually drives most of their income potential beyond personal sales, since group volume, rank, and most bonuses are calculated from downline activity. An inactive or shrinking downline directly reduces a distributor's team based earnings even if their personal sales stay steady.

Example

A distributor's downline includes the six people she personally recruited, plus the people each of those six later recruited, spanning three levels deep in the company's organizational structure.
